Moodboard trials!

The movie I used was howls moving castle! The movie was made by Studio Ghibli in 2004 and is a dramatic fantasy romance based on a book of the same name. When I think of Howls Moving Castle, the first thing that comes to mind are gorgeous landscapes. The movie always has a very soft vibe despite its material being about a war. That soft, elegant vibe also reminds me of beautiful towns, and especially of flowers. The use of flora as imagery especially pink flowers immediately bring me back to watching this movie as a child. I think tulips are the best ones to reference, especially due to the famous scene, where Paul and Sophie truly show how much they’re in love. I have no idea what the flowers were in that scene, but to me they felt like tulips. I also think that soft, graceful, aesthetic is reminiscent of cooking, especially baking. And as a result, I also used making as part of my imagery.

I also immediately think of elegance. What better way to represent elegance than adding items such as jewelry and neat clothing? Though there aren’t many looks per se in the movie, I always think of a certain fashion while watching it. It’s fairly reminiscent of the fantasy “ouji” style in japan. So I ended up looking up many pieces from the subculture until they found some thing that matched what I was thinking of.When you stink of elegant parties, it’s very common to think of why, and I’ve seen it as a present visual motif  when people speak of this movie, even though I don’t think why it is included in the source material.many of the parts of my mood boardparticularly remind me of Howell’s room. For such a dramatic and elegant man, he has a very messy living space. Despite all the clutter, though, it’s filled with many pieces of beautiful art and magic. So as a result, I ended up looking for the color that reminded me of such cluttered magic. Implementing hearts within it all because as a piece of romance content it’s important to mediate to include romantic imagery. Hurts. Also seem to be a recurring theme( not necessarily an explicit one) throughout the movie.
